Bernd Radtke, born in Stuttgart in 1965, has been working as a manager at Ulm Chamber of Industry and Commerce since 2004. His responsibilities include regional marketing. He works alongside regional decision-makers from the fields of politics and administration, business, science and society, developing the region of Ulm as a brand and exercising his powers of persuasion among these players. Shortly, he is planning to carry out a scientific study of the topics of place branding, regional identity and regional brand development, and to take a part-time doctorate.
Bernd Radtke is a qualified economist: he completed 1995 his degree course at the University of Hohenheim, near Stuttgart, in Business and Economics, focusing on marketing and economic psychology, with a dissertation on the topic of portfolio analysis in strategic regional marketing. His dissertation was enriched by his knowledge of public administration acquired during his previous degree course in administration.
During the first five years of his career, Bernd Radtke worked in corporate consultancy in Heidelberg, Munich and Stuttgart, concentrating on marketing and strategy projects for cities, tourism destinations, investment goods- and consumer product-companies in Germany and abroad (Denmark, Spain, USA). He then spent three years as the manager of a public-run association in Stuttgart organising sophisticated film festivals, carrying out their planning and marketing in accordance with the principles of brand management.
