Jan Dirk Kemming, born in 1973, works as Director Creative Planning at Weber Shandwick, a global PR agency. Also, he teaches media- and communications management at the Rheinische Fachhochschule (University of Applied Sciences) in Koeln. Besides, he occupies himself with his PhD dissertation on "Nation Brand Image in Political Contexts – the Case of Turkey's EU Accession".
After having studied German linguistics, Social Sciences (degree: State Exam) and Management (degree: Diplom-Betriebswirt) in the last millennium, Kemming obtained an M.Sc. in Business Administration/Marketing from Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey in 2006. Before joining Weber Shandwick, he worked as division manager concept/creative design for Pleon/Bob Bomliz Group (BBDO) and as Creative Director for facts+fiction/Wunderman (Y&R).
In the area of Place Branding and Public Diplomacy, Kemming devotes special attention to possibilities and limitations when transferring concepts from corporate communications, to practical and theoretical analysis of the intersections between brand identity and brand image, and to brand strategy and communication management issues for place brands.
