Viorel Mihaila is based in Bucharest and is an Independent PR and Communications Consultant.
After graduation from the University of Bucharest in Psychology and Educational Studies (1993) he worked in the military influence operations field (1993-2006) and military PA (2006-2008). Since 2005 he holds a PhD in military sciences. With extensive operational experience in psychological operations, information operations, media operations and strategic communications, he worked both in national and international environment, planning and coordinating various communications campaigns. In 2008 he left the military for a strategic communications consultancy career.
For more than 15 years has been a lecturer on influence operations, PA and strategic communication for the military audience (National Defence University/Romania, NATO School/Germany, Centre of Excellence Defence Against Terrorism/Turkey) and for the students at the National School of Political Studies and Public Administration/Bucharest. Since 2006 he is and associate professor at the Psychology and Educational Studies/University of Bucharest, and in 2009 shall start teaching at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Studies/University of Bucharest.
He focuses on strategic communication, strategy, identity, public diplomacy, and campaign evaluation.
His book (in Romanian),“National identity, European identity. Symbols and challenges.” will be published in October 2009.
